Last night, I attended my first meeting as a member of the Cancer Research Institute’s fledging Young Philanthropists group.
Last year’s Midsummer Social event sponsored by the CRI’s Young Philanthropists group attracted about 140 people, myself includedI was introduced to the organization and the group last summer, when I attended their first annual Midsummer Social event. Having lost both of my parents to cancer, it is a cause close to my heart, so I’m excited to be part of promoting CRI and their efforts to support scientists on the frontline of cancer research.
The 15-member Young Philanthropists board boasts a cross section of smart, talented 20 and 30-somethings from CRI and the private sector. I’m looking forward to working with every single one of them on the group’s 2009 summer event.
